ACP (Aluminum Composite Panel) or ACM (Aluminum Composite Material) is a flat panel that consists of a non-aluminum core bonded between two aluminum sheets.

The center of these panels is made-up from a core such as polyethylene or polystyrene, both of which are effective reducing thermal transfer through walls.

Sign makers often use aluminum composite panels instead of heavy steel or other metals for building signs or billboards, but there are thousands of applications in the decoration industry for this versatile material.

Beyond its appearance ACP is very rigid and strong but is also lightweight and offers a number of additional advantages to users.

By combining insulation and aluminum panels into a single material, manufacturers allow quickly and easily construction of walls and other building features. It is a popular decorative lightweight material with the advantages of durability; corrosion resistance and some ACP are fireproof. They are very lightweight and require minimal structural support, but also are strong and durable.

One of the most popular architectural applications of this material is for cladding the wall; but since this material has been associated with some incidents related with fire, it has been necessary to regulate the use of it for the cladding of structures. Keep in mind that ACP panels have different fire behaviors, resistance and reaction, depending on: the foam, the metal thickness, the coating, etc. So it is always necessary to choose the right one according to its purpose.

The versatility of the ACP, as well as the possibility of combining it with new technology, opens up a lot for applications that we do not think of when we hear the word aluminum.

Forget the monotony of covering the walls with basic colored plates. This material can be painted in any kind of color, metallic and non-metallic colors as well as patterns that imitate other materials, such as wood or marble. If coated with polyester you can also dye sublimate onto these aluminum composite panels or, with UV-cured ink, you can print directly onto them.

We just have to think outside the box to find avant-garde applications that highlight the everyday without the need to incur the use of expensive or heavy materials.
