During APPPEXPO Shanghai, 2019 we had the opportunity to talk with Sakkachat Sivaborvorn, President and CEO of “SIGN ASIA EXPO”. Who gave us his point of view of where the “Thailand Digital Printing Market” is heading for 2019.
Q. Tell us a little bit about your show?
In the past (more than twenty years ago) I was an industrial designer and also was the owner of “IDesign Magazine” (Industrial Design magazine) in Thailand that covered all about industrial and graphic design around the world.
Many years ago, I wanted to do something to make my country stand out. That is when I thought that if we used a lot of creative ideas, design and with the promotion of new technology it would make my country stand out. Now, sixteen years later, we are the number one sign show in Thailand and the ASEAN region.
SIGN ASIA EXPO gathers more than 400 different brands (distributors and manufacturers) dedicated to the different sectors of the graphic industry, under the same roof and bring more than 17,000 visitors from 35 countries.
Q. Why is it important to attend your show?
One of the benefits of being present in SIGN ASIA EXPO 2019 is that we are a gate to the ASEAN region. Thanks to the AEC (ASEAN Economic Community) we can be a bridge between Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Philippines, Vietnam, Cambodia, Brunei, Myanmar (Burma) and Laos.
Q. Which area of the digital printing industry is more developed in your country?
Digital technology is growing exponentially. The sign industry business in Thailand is growing very fast and all the technology is growing at its side; being capable of providing more benefits and covering the demand of the digital market.
Q. How is your exhibition contributing to the green industry?
I think that topic is very important for any exhibition. After any show, there is a lot of waste. In Thailand, the government sector is concerned about how we can reduce the waste and garbage after the show. How we can use something before the process or use a creative idea to produce something new from that garbage. Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.
Q. What are your predictions for the digital printing industry in Thailand for 2019 – 2020?
The speed of production is one of the most important factors in the digital printing process. With the development of new technologies (printheads, dryers, calenders, etc.) and the automation of the processes, a competitive point will be reached; in which a project will be developed in one day instead of taking up to five days. Improving the delivery time to a customer.
So we should keep an eye on all digital printing and digital technology in general and not staying behind in this train that takes us to the 2020.
