ColorJet launched the new 3.2-meter UV LED Roll-to-Roll printer, VULCAN, at Media Expo 2017 in New Delhi, India. The 3.2-meter has also a 5-meter version using the V8 technology, which can handle smart memory operation, quick-thinking communication and thermal design technology.
The roll-to-roll VULCAN offers motorized carriage height adjustment, capacity for 2 to 14 printheads, LED lamps, which emit little heat allowing to print on thin media with an eco cooling system which maintains printing temperature and removes media wrinkles to ensure a high quality print; we at FLAAR Reports will definitely need to evaluate this feature since color gamut issues happens to be the cause for choosing a high-end and expensive UV-curing printers.
The dual-roll option on the VULCAN UV-curing printer is an advantage to execute multiple jobs simultaneously and increases the production for printing on smaller media. It may support flexible material, such as canvas, self-adhesive vinyl, plastic film, paper and polyester, also with the 5-meter option it can be suitable for billboards or wall wrapping printing.
Since white color is one of the most difficult to be visible on the large-format printer market, the VULCAN roll-to-toll printer offers the multi-layer technology with the following printing modes of white color:
• Pre-White: Printing white underneath the main color.
• Post-White: Printing white on the top of the color.
• Sandwich-White: Printing white in between the main colors, for example: Color-White-Color.
Next time the VULCAN roll-to-roll UV-curing printer will be on display is at the Visual Impact exhibition in Sydney Australia, we will hopefully be able to track this printer this next busy October, either at SGIA 2017 in New Orleans or at Sign Istanbul at the beginning of the month.
