Dr Nicholas and an assistant are looking forward to being at Sign Istanbul all four days (29 September though 2 October, 2016).
FLAAR has attended Sign Istanbul every single year for every year this decade.
We go for many reasons: first, because this is the premier signage and wide-format inkjet printer event in the junction of Europe and Asia. Second: we know most of the major distributors in Turkey and have many friends in the inkjet printer, ink, media, cutter, and laminator industries in Turkey.
Plus, I must admit, since I studied art history as a student at Harvard and later was a Post Graduate Research Assistant at Yale University, also in art history, that I enjoy the art and architectural heritage of Turkey.
There is a waiting list of FLAAR Reports review editors who all want to visit Turkey and help Dr Nicholas at Sign Istanbul. So each year we bring two of us: Dr Nicholas and an assistant Review Editor (since there are so many printers, inks, media, cutters, etc to study).
Plus, Tarsus and IFO are intelligent to have a co-located 3D printer expo. Too many other inkjet and signage expos elsewhere totally lack a 3D printer presence: Drupa was one of the few printer expos which really wowed their attendees with 3D presence. Sign Istanbul 2015 did this already last year, and we hope they add some of the newer 3D printers such as the “massive” technology which can do people-sized “prints.”
