It has been over a year since EFI and Konica Minolta announced the launch of three new digital printers. But this 2016, EFI announced they will be partnering with Ricoh by adding their flatbed printers to its line-up.

The global agreement will begin with accessibility through Europe and Latin America, with North America and Asia Pacific to follow.

These additions will bring a greater benefit for Ricoh’s clients, since the variety of EFI’s UV flatbed will complement Ricoh’s product range encompassing flatbed, large-format, continuous feed, cut sheet, software and consultancy services, expanding the commercial print and signage sectors for Ricoh.

“This is a natural progression for Ricoh for two reasons. First, we have a long-standing relationship with EFI, who provide EFI Fiery as a digital front end for our cut sheet products. Secondly, we have already had a successful roll-fed large format offering in our portfolio; and the addition of UV flatbed options broadens the market possibilities our print service providers can embrace. We have been receiving client requests to expand our portfolio, and we are delighted to be able to do that with a long-time partner that is so well-respected in the industry. We are fully committed to providing print service providers with a broad and comprehensive, integrated solution set.”

One of the most popular VUTEk flatbed printers additions, is the EFI H1625 LED Hybrid roll/flatbed UV printer, since it uses EFI’s Cool Cure technology, capable of printing over thinner substrates, reducing materials, shipping and energy. Making it one of the most eco-friendly flatbed printers in the market, which will be one of the most important reasons for Ricoh’s clients in making their purchase decision.

EFI VUTEK’s UV-Curing printers are well known for using Seiko printheads, but with this new agreement held in past June, it will be thought-provoking to tell if there will be any other type of alliance by placing Ricoh heads instead.

We at FLAAR Reports see this prognosis encouraging by researching and evaluating if this will ever happen, and the most-likely place to analyze it, is this September at SGIA 2016 in Las Vegas, Nevada. So we hope to see you at the show and follow FLAAR Reports with the hash tag #FLAARatSGIA2016 and join us as we develop this news and all of our main topics in the large format printers industry.
